    I own a website for bloggers, http://www.blogengage.com

I’m trying to decide what a good quality link is and what a poor quality link is.

Does Google take anything into consideration when judging poor and high quality links?

I don’t want my website linking to poor quality blog sites so I need some advice on how to determine what is poor quality or good quality?

    Hey Brian.

Here are some things that Google may consider when judging quality of a site:
    -quality, unique content
-not too many ads, especially pop-ups
    -not filled with irrelevant links
-not doing spammy things like hidden text, keyword stuffing, cloaking, etc

Just use common sense and don't link to anything that is spammy. Although Google may not notice poor site design, you should take this into consideration. Also avoid linking to shady industries such as gambling, pharmacy, porn and anything illegal.

Basically develop a checklist of things you would check for on each site. Then only link to that site if it passes all checks.

I generally avoid linking to websites that don't have PR. It is sometimes tough to tell if they don't have PR because their site is too new or if they have got penalized for something spammy they have done.

Apart from what vansterdam has said, try to link to sites that are related to your own topic.
