Amount of Backlinks

Is it best to have many backlinks - some being irrelevant or a small amount ( < 500) of relevant links?

You should know that every backlink counts as a positive vote for your website, relevant or not. But if you can get relevant quality backlinks then good and fine.

Also have this in mind: Even if you have a link from Google or yahoo homepage, links from other sites wont hurt you in anyway.

It is best to have backlinks from any page that you can. The more always being better. If you were to choose, then i will suggest you take few very quality links.

 

Every link counts as backlink, but relevant backlinks that comes from quality pages: such backlinks are the ones that really will help your site to rank good in SERPs. I think we should concentrate on the quality of backlinks instead of the quantity of backlinks.

 

They say that it would take hundreds of PR 0-1 links to equal the link juice of one quality PR 5 link, but who really knows. We only know that Google is looking for what looks natural.

There are so many factors involved in Google's algorithm, such as site relevancy, site authority, age of link, is the link one-way, what is the anchor text, context of the link, how many other links share the page with yours, etc., etc.

My suggestion is to split your time trying to get links from high quality sites, and trying to acquire hundreds of links anywhere you can get them. Links never hurt, and can only help. The only harm you can do is when you link back to a "bad neighbourhood", or engage in practices that are obviously intended to manipulate Google's page rank. However, you don't really have control over where your links go. If a link could hurt someone, I would be posting my competitors links into bad neighbourhoods.

Also, don't forget to change up your anchor text. You want it to look as natural as you can.

Every back link is important. Sites with high PRs obviously count more, but get all the back links you possibly can. They can only help your ranking. Social bookmarking is a good way to get some quality back links.

 

Backlinks are the most important factor in ranking a website.If you have more quality backlinks means then it is an added advantage.so link your site with more and relevant quality sites.

 

If you get relevant backlinks, it won't matter if the site that linked to yours have good PR or not, you'll still get the juice.
