Hostgator question???

    Hostgator is providing linux or windows hosting.

    Which is better Windows or linux hosting???

    At the moment, HostGator offers Linux hosting only. Their site says Windows hosting is coming soon.

    The only advantage you get out of Windows hosting is that you can run scripts that are coded in ASP. Come to think of it, PHP is far better than ASP (IMHO). So well, it just depends on your requirements. Both the OSes for hosting are just as good. :)

    Linux hosting is all you need so long as you don't require asp pages.

    Yes, their Linux hosting is a good service and their support is excellent. However the Windows or Linux hosting selection depends on your application at first. If you need to run .NET Framework web apps, you have to choose the Windows. I prefer, as a Drupal (PHP) user, Linux hosting.

    They do offer both but they are now they in the process of recruiting qualified and experienced Windows System Administrators and a technical lead for HostGator's Windows hosting.

    The type of hosting is depend on the requirement of your script.Some script can only be run under Windows

    Linux is cheaper than Windows hosting. If you are not going to run any windows based application then I would recommend you to go for Linux Hosting.

    Hostgator is providing Linux ONLY. There windows hosting is under the tag of COMING SOON !!
    Linux hosting is best to use with free CMS like wordpress, joomala etc
    so better to buy a Linux based hosting...

    many times Windows based hosting costs more

    It does depend on if you are going to run scripts. Linux servers tend to be faster and requires less resources.

    I'm with Hostgator for 2 years now and i never had any problem with them.Their support is excellent and they will always there for you with straight answers to you inquiries.
    They only run Linux Servers for the moment but i advice you to go with Linux as your site will run smoothly and you can run any kind of scripts on it faster than on Win Servers.

    Hostgator does offer only Linux for now. They are great hosting company if you ask me. I have 4 sites hosted with them under different platforms (Drupal, Xoops, Wordpress, Custom script). They are heavily used resources but never found any problems. :) 4/5

    I don't care about linux or windows hosting, But That I need is quick support and friendly support. Linux is the best choice than windows. And hostgator is the best choice to for hosting, quick and friendly people. A few day ago my website infected by virus, the can scan and clean it so fast, it can reduce losing profit.
