Too many sites to add privacy policy?

    Hi,

I have lots of sites with adsense on, it would take me weeks to update them all to have a privacy policy, but I am worried if I don't there may be bad things ahead.

    What do you guys think?

Could I get banned for not having a privacy policy?

Is it worth taking the time out to add one to all my sites?

    Thanks
    Colin

Take the time and add privacy policy on all sites.

Make a template, include from all sites changing the name. Next time it'll be a 2 minute thing.

You could make one privacy policy for all your sites - listing all of their URLs - and then just link all your sites to that one privacy policy. Here is one you are free to copy:
    http://www.jensense.com/2009/04/03/...ample-with-interest-based-targeting-included/

Alternatively you could add a separate policy to each site (which you might want to do if you don't want people to know what all your sites are). It shouldn't take more than a few minutes per site - just start a new page (or post), copy and paste, add the name of your site, and add a link to it to the footer of your template. If you have hundreds of sites and they are all hand-coded, it will take longer, but that's what you've got to do to keep them Adsense legal.

Google can ban your account for not following the ToS and Program Policies, so yes. It's only worth your time if your Adsense account is valuable to you.

Thanks for all the advice guys, very appreciated.

Someone mentioned via PM that the deadline for not having one has passed, so I guess I am going to have put a day aside and get all the sites updated.

Has anyone thought about SEOing their privacy policy?

I figure nofollowing the link to it is a good start.

The privacy policy requirement was originally added to the Adsense ToS in February 2008, so yes, you should have already had a privacy policy on your sites for more than a year. The most recent change was that you had to update your privacy policy with the new information about interest-based ads by April 8th, so you should really make this your top priority.

(And I received an email from Adsense in March with a notification about the new interest-based advertising and required privacy policy update. Be sure to read what Google sends you, it may affect your account!)
