Which directories would YOU pay for?

What are the top directories that everyone should pay to have their link on?

And how much would you be willing to pay for 1 link?

The meaning of top directories differ from individual to individual. The people who submit to the directory in my signature believe it's of top quality.

Prices differ from directory to directory. The amount of money I would be willing to pay for link review will depend on how much I can afford.

I find the question a bit strange because the ones you "would" pay for would indicate that a person "did" pay for it...

I wouldn't pay for placement in directories (one expection I can consider is yahoo directory, but now rather not). I would pay for my link on any index page PR 5 and over.

Frankly there are way too many directories to list that I have paid review fees for listing consideration.

The review fees have ranged from a few dollars to over $200 it just depends on the directory.

I have my favorites but everyones list will vary based on their own criteria for quality.

I don't spend even my 0.1$ on directories that are newly established. Old directories which still stand spam free and are maintained no matter what the PR maybe, is where my money goes. :)

DMOZ and Yahoo are the only ones that really matter I think? And the Google Search Index of course. What's Adwords other than a paid listing there.. ?

Why people recommend dmoz when it takes a century to get admitted, that is IF you get admitted at all. Yahoo is more of a Yellow pages than a directory now a days. Unless you have a budget at $299 a year is quite expensive and that year just fly.

Some people wont pay for inclusion to a directory, that's just it and since not all Free directory are created equal, some of those Free directories may in fact be more harmful than not submitting at all.

There are many directories that are out there that use to rank quite high, but for some reason in the last two updates and probably most of them will never rank past zero(PR) again.

I'd rather subscribe in old directories that are spam-free and which would feature my listing on a page with high pr as well.

I suggest you if you are going for paid directory list, you should go for directories related with your theme. It will not only be a quality link, but also provide unique visitors to your website.
