I think if you are going to ban someone for a non serious offence then you can atleast let them know what they did via email or PM.

A 7 day ban has the potential to cause quite a lot of grief, stalling projects, payments, important correspondence.

They seem to be increasingly issued "willy nilly" nowdays ....

This has been going on for quite some time. Hence, the reason that many of the older DP types just pop in from time to time and check on what's going on. Afraid to step on a mod's toes..lol

It really does stink when you get infractions and the reason or thread infraction was generated for isn't there as well.Oh well, that's DP these days..

That's why it's impossible to do any serious business on DP and serious webmasters know that. When you get banned for no reason, it wastes all your time and effort you put into it and makes your business look bad. And with all serious webmasters knowing mods destroy conduction of serious business it gives lots of room for scammers and that's the real picture of what DP today is all about.

If you will check your email you will find an explanation. Emails are automatically generated when infractions are given.

And anytime you say anything like "please send me the details" it will be considered thread bumping and eligible for a 7 day ban. Please read the rules here:

Seriously, can we explain it any further than that?

I can't speak for Willy or Nilly...but I can tell you that one-week bans are almost always for bumping threads...and those posts are usually deleted. Moderators may or may not choose to add information to the infraction, but you do get emailed when you are given an infraction, unless you have the notification turned off.

With some much shit to deal with on a daily basis (ie. scammers, duplicate accounts, etc.), there isn't a lot of time left to coddle forum members who are adversely affected by an infraction or a ban. As for myself, I'm not going to make any extra effort to email anyone to explain what's already written in the FAQ and the stickies. People will follow the rules...or they won't.
