Site use to be indexed almost instantly, now it isn't - could it be google news?

    Hi,

    I own this site: http://www.albertatalks.ca

The site use to be indexed by google almost instantly after posting a blog post. Now it's taking weeks! I recently got accepted into Google News and I'm not sure if that's causing the normal search results to change?

I actually think it happened after changing my layout.

Try searching for a recent article, maybe even a day old article. Google will find the main page "index.php" if it makes reference there. But it's not indexing the individual pages...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do you still have the same number of backlinks you did before? how often googlebot visiting your site compared to before? being on google news would not get your site indexed any slower

I'm not sure how often Googlebot visits. Is there a way to check in awstats or google analytics?

I would say pretty frequently. Because index.php gets updated quickly... but not the individual posts...

Isn't your index.php linking to the blog post? Google indexes almost all wordpress blogs with decent backlink profiles rather quickly. How are you checking if the post is indexed or not?

    Yes it is.

I'm searching the titles of the blog posts in quotes. It works for the old blog posts, but nothing is coming up for the newer ones. I used to be crawled like every 30 minutes.

I just realized that this started to happen the day before I changed my theme. Could that affect it?

If I do a search like this: site:albertatalks.ca

I can see my recent posts buried in there. But they don't show up when I search the titles! This is frustrating.

Checked your site's source code but did not find anything unusual. Sometimes the same thing happens to me, too, but after a while it corrects itself.

So I installed the Crawl Rate Tracker for Wordpress.

It appears that google is crawling the individual posts very quickly. But they don't show up in the search. Is that normal?

Google has seversal bots, one for search, one for ads and apparently one for news, can't remember their names but am sure someone here can give you. You must be able to differentiate each in your server logs.

Well I've been tracking my posts that are not being indexed. It seems to be 1 week behind. Posts that were done on May 2nd that I could not find yesterday I am finding today...
