{Q}my new site is now on page 17. Is it sandboxed

    i had my site on the first page until about 5 days ago and now it dropped to like the 17 th page. Does this mean it was sandboxed

    yes sandbox if you stay there for more than 1 month, if you will get back it is just a penality or datacenter update

    No. It's on page 17 because it's probably new as SEOibiza said, so get goin' and build some links!

    when it is a new site in ths situation.... how many links each month do you think are ok to add?

    dont think in terms of how many, rather in terms of how good links you can get.

    5 really good links will quite often do the job.

    yes, you have to keep build new links to get from multiples sites and blog. do the following

    -forum postings
    -blog commenting
    -question and answer sites
    -3 way link exchange

    Try to find higher pr sites to do this with. You won't get on the high pr page, but the page will get index faster.
    Try do to do it in your niche, but you can go out of your niche too.

    I have gotten all of my sites to page 1 and they have stay there.

    It might be new site or serp penalty or due to serp algo changes. If your site is sandbox then it will disappear from SERPS.
