check it manually by using this command link:domain.com
backlinks is one way to increase PR but I think there's other basis to increase PR. But I'm not sure if what it is.

Type it inside Google search box. Also try installing Google webmaster tools. It has option to check backlinks. It is the best.

    Hi,

Yahoo site Explorer is the best site where you can check your backlink details.

    1.Go to yahoo site explorer,

    2. Type Site:YourURL,(without any space) in the yahoo site explorer text field at the top.

    3. Enter the Explore Url button,( You will get a big list)

    4. Then click on the "Inlinks" button, which will be available at the Top right corner of the list

You will get your a list of your Backlinks. :)

Well, for one thing, the link: command is not accurate. It only shows a very small sampling of your number of backlinks. A site might have 10,000 backlinks to the index page and the link: command will only show a couple of hundred - if that.

There are 2 tools that I use to keep track of my backlinks - google webmaster tools and yahoo site explorer. I think yahoo site explorer is a little more accurate and shows more links then google webmaster tools. But with both of them you should be able to get an accurate measure of the number of links your site has.

And - those tools will show links to sub or inner pages. Something that the link: command will not do unless to go page by page on your site.

Another cool tool is Yahoo Blog Log. But it only shows the last 10 inbound and outbound links. If you want more then the last 10, you have to buy the professional version. Even if you do not buy the professional version, the free version can provide some cool stats.

I found backlinkwatch.com the easiest way of checking either. You may also try Seo Book Backlink Analyzer.

~kev~ above was right - "link:" command is not that accurate. Google webmaster tools would be a good option, or SEO spyglass by linkassistant.
