    Hey all -

I created a financial / stock prediction website, and am trying to figure out how to drive traffic to it.

When creating a blog there are so many resources for you. Directories, websites, etc. I'm used to blog marketing.

However, this is a brave new world for me, and I'm not sure what are some good (emphasize creative) ideas to get a financial/stocks website out there.

    Any ideas?

traffic generation comes in many forms. I would focus on one maybe two traffic strategies at time, otherwise everything seems to blur :)

Social Media (blogs as well) is a tremendous traffic source, however most go about it the wrong way and therefore do not get the results that they need/expect/are looking for.

Link exchanges is a definate, need those inbound links, especially on small and/or new sites.

Pay Per CLick for fast traffic, if you can find the money words for your niche. BE WARNED, bankruptcy has hit many a online marketers no knowing how to use PPC.

These are just a few, hope this helps.

Write some articles and submit to article directories. Also do a press release both of these will help you build your traffic and backlinks

OK all you need is to have an account in all social bookmarking sites and put your anchor text there so that you will be on top of Google search engine.

I'm not a big fan of link exchanges. It seems like i'm working sooo hard for each link.

Does talking in forums really work? Do you guys see a lot of referral traffic from forums?

I was looking at pay per click. Seems expensive to being pay a couple bucks per click . . .

Social Media has been awful source of traffic for me. I must be doing it wrong. What's the right way?

Yeah I'm thinking about doing the press release.

Articles seem like so much work. I already put my blood and sweat into the building the site.

I guess I'm looking for a good way to get the word out, but looks like there's no easy magic bullet . . . .

Blog marketing is good and I also experienced it is worth while, but I also suggest you to go for some article marketing (as others said) and Link exchange. One more thing do not copy material from other blogs, it will damage your worth.

I suggest you to concentrate on search engine traffic mainly google.

Try to install google analytics and monitor which keyword your website is referred.
    Check your bounce rate too.
Make sure your visitors get what they want.

If you know the keyword is working good for you, then try to do some link building for that keyword.

Maybe, buying a paid post, blog comments, forum posting, etc.
Anything that gives you anchored backlink to your website.

Concentrate on getting backlinks so that you can dominate the first spot of google for your keyword.
You can also look for link exchanges with similar websites and you can search for finance directories ;)

You need to write your own articles on your relevant blogs or websites, build rich backlinks, then submit to directory submissions. These generates a volume of traffic for your sites

I have found social traffic easy to get but it is not the best traffic. I mean social traffic is not as motivated to do anything once they get to your site. Search engine traffic is by far the best and you should put your efforts into getting one way backlinks. Reciprocal linking is next to useless these days as you leak as much juice as you get. That's my experience anyway.
It is hard work but article writing and joining a backlink service is the way to get the best results.

If you don't have time to do articles, how about having someone do it for you? Outsource! Or maybe you can hire college students with courses in finance to do the articles.

ok, so i added all the standard social bookmarking links:
    Trader Bots

I figure, it'll make it easier for me to bookmark, plus make it easy for others to bookmark too.

    Let's see how that goes.
