200 KBps is very good. Considering 200 KB actually means more than 1.5 Mbps.

If they offer 3.1 Mb/s and offer upto 1.5 - I guess it should be good.

eXe - can you tell me the price a new connection comes for?

i am using BSNL EVDO and its giving good performance compared to cost. Relience and TATA plans are costly while BSNL charge only Rs. 550 per month for unltd. plan+ rs. 200 for EVDO device rental. anywhere in city i get average speed of 500 Kbps and thats good.

I got the card. The actual bandwidth is about ~1mbps. It's reasonably OK. It becomes very slow every 4-5 hours for a couple of minutes which can be sorted out by reconnecting.

noobmaster you have to pay Rs.3500 initially to get the modem, then it's monthly 1100 for 10GB download limit within the city, and 1800 for nationwide. There are plans with lesser download limits & rates available. Each additional MB is billed @ Rs.2. Which adds up to Rs.2000 per GB.

Which is about $45 per freaking GB.

I'm using this just for browsing & will continue using my fixed wire MTNL adsl line for serious downloading.

Go FOR BSNL EVDO If your area is covered by it's network. It's just the best..
Don't GO FOR TATA for any thing, they are scammers. A------ Services.

I have one friend using Reliance Wimax and he is much satisfied with speed and services.

I'm stick to Airtel Broadband. It's superb. I'm using 2MBPS Plan at my office network on 5 PCs and getting downloading speed around 220 Kbps. So airtel rocks for me...

Its good, but you don't have any unlimited plans.
Its their FUP which is limiting the maximum free data transfer to 15GB.
I'll choose BSNL EV-DO anytime over Reliance or Tata Indicom.

I have been billed unfairly for this service. At the time of sale they do not mention that the usage and billing will be "pro rated" for the 1st month. I was under the impression that I can download the 10GB anytime I want within 30 days. This is not the case. They've generated a bill for a period of 14 days & charged me extra fees. The plan rental is ~1700/mo but I'm forced to pay ~Rs.3250 because they have "pro rated" the first bill (adjusted the plan rental and USAGE for the first 14 days). I have no idea on what basis the usage is pro rated. Next thing they might start prorating it on a per hour basis. Download more than 14MB in 1 hour and you pay extra

Can't be bothered fighting with these bastards as they are a faceless corporation where nothing is going to be redressed. I want my wireless internet so I paid the bill. But I hope this serves as a warning to everyone who purchases the service.

Not only did they overcharge me but had the audacity to disconnect my service until the bill was paid (BEFORE the due date had passed) due to "high usage".

    No

They "prorated" my usage for 14 days meaning assigned me a download limit of 4.6GB. Everything above 4.6GB which I had downloaded has been charged at Rs.2 per MB even though it is within 30 days of purchase of the package and the plan is 10GB transfer.
