    register.com used to offer free domain names, but they wanted almost $40 to renew it the next year! So it wasn't worth it... and they lost business, so they stopped it..

    Some hosting companies offer a free domain name for as long as you are with them, about as free as youll get.

    I am unaware of any Registrar who provides free Domains..Most Hosting Companies do provide free Domains with their Hosting packages but they are over priced hence, does not make sense.

    To save costs, you can buy a Domain ( USD 10 on a higher side ) and take some free Web,email Hosting..
