A question for all Indian members

I got a quick question for all Indian members on DP :D

If you were given a SEO job, full time from home - 5 days a week for 8 hours, what sort of monthly wage would you expect for it?

Consider relatively simple and boring linkbuilding free stuff mostly. Like registering and posting on forums, submitting links and sites, posting short comments etc. and other things you can learn pretty quickly.
    Thanks!

I was offered $400/month for such a job, but I didn't take it.

However, I am sure you can find people who would be willing to do it for $200/month.

I know a few guys who run SEO firms here.....they usually pay $150 - $250 per month to people with less experience.

    hi

you can find a wide range of prices for this

there are people who would be willing to do this for 150$/month and there are many who wouldn't be doing this for 400$/month too

the basic points are the following

1.1$ is worth a lot for a common Indian man so this variety in the prices arises

2.it depends on the current popularity of the SEO guy too:):)

but one thing is for sure you can get the cheapest guys working with a lot of diligence here only so best of luck finding the best!!;);)

    thanks,
    ankur

I'm not indian but $400 a month for 8 hours per day seems very little.

Any idea what they charge their clients? I'd pay a fair overhead to have a subcontract through a company as that should probably be more reliable.. but not if that's like 3-4 times more.

SEO companies in India charge a bomb, usually around 500$ one time fee for a small website of a dozen or so pages. They do very little work, if any. Most people who hire SEO firms (around here) do so without understanding what SEO actually means. If you'e looking to sub-contract your work, good luck with that. Its hard to find reliable partners.

Maybe you could get someone more reliable on rentacoder or elance.

    Ah.. That depends.
You'll get more fair quotes if you mention what should have to done.
But, if those are the jobs you mentioned in your post, I guess $400 to $600 per month will be good enough.

hm thanks. I figure there should be companies that actually specialize on sub contracting, rather than providing/outsourcing these services.

For such a job, if it is confined to what you have described in your post, $400 per month would either be borderline or just enough for some. Other would charge more. But if you are looking for someone who knows what he is doing, they are likely to charge you more.

Find a relatively new guy and try him out for one month on probation. If he does well, give him the job or pay him the amount granted for the probation period and select another candidate.

This way you will have a lot of personal exachange and control over what is done. Hope that helps.

Like Sampath said around 300 USD to 400 USD would do.

That's what Barack Obama talked about Bangalore and Buffalo city today. :D

I agree with what gauharjk stated.

The companies charge much more than what an individual would charge.

I know companies that work with more than 60% margins...only 40% of what they charge goes to pay salaries and overheads.

Over the years, I have found that best way to get things done is to try out lot of service providers on DP and choose the best ones for long term.

It is unlikely that one single person will be able to do all tasks equally well.

For each task like directory submission, article writing, social bookmarking etc, I have a different guy.

For me, this strategy has been both cost-efficient and time-efficient..:).
