I need to make some changes to my site so it works on IE6 because I know it has some problems, but I have no idea how to check it on IE6 without istalling a virtual computer software on vista to run it. anyone got any other ideas? thanks
browsershots.org just check the browser(s) you want to see it in and enjoy! If you need to do more than just see what it looks like in certain browsers, like check drop down menus, then I'm afraid the site will be of little use to you.
I did try that, but it takes nearly 2 hours to get the image, so after my initial render to see the problem, I have to wait 2 hours after every change I make to see the differences.
browsershots also doesn't let you see what happens when you scroll, hover, click, or resize the browser window. Flash and Javascript are also untestable with browsershots. You could sign up for browsercam, which is a paid system but it gives you access to the dummy machine so you can test all those things. Most people buy in groups to save money. There's something called IETester out there, and you can have IE5-8 with it I guess. Dunno if it works on Vista, but I thought it did. You may want to consider Virtual Box or Virtual PC-- but if you don't already have a license of XP then you'd have to buy it. My Virtual Box only has XP just so I can use Tredosoft Multiple IE, which currently doesn't work on Vista (though they may be trying to make a version that does).
I've finally got it!! I found a program that emulates different versions of IE on vista: http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage
Multi IE, it has saved to sooo many times. It lets you have IE6, IE7 etc all at the same time. http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE
Because its currently the most supported and up-to-date operating system. Although, yes I agree that doesn't make it good. But I guess you are using it as well if you wanted the link
Great nice link bookmarked it anyone know of somthing like this for mac as i only get problems with ie at times when i am coding
On a Mac, have you considered Parallels? Basically, you want to run windows somewhere to run the IE's. Good to hear the IE tester works with Vista.
