Are Anchor Text Really That Important?

This question just popped up in my head.

If I get a url link(i.e. http://www.mywebsite.com) from a high quality site, would it count more than a normal anchor text link?

Do non-anchor text links somehow count towards SE Rank anyway?

 

not as much as before.in my opinion,google prefer to judge the link relevance through the content of this page

 

I agree somewhat I still believe that the anchor text holds a lot of weight of a link. When ever possible I would try and have optimized keywords anchor text.

 

I believe it is best to have an anchor text whenever you can, if not, it is fine.

I find that if the content is relevant and the anchor text is to, it is often better to have.

yep. I with you. different anchors and url(sub url) are necessary, which could cause the difference of 5th and 50th position in google.
