Anyone know of any good directory scripts that are either free or paid?

GFC, we think a lot alike- I was just gonna post that. cpLinks is pretty good- some downfalls though:

    difficult moving links between categories
cannot have sub-sub categories (like, Sports > Soccer > Shopping)

It does have a couple short comings, but it's free so what the heck. For a basic directory it gets the job done.

sub-sub catagories would be a very nice feature.

I will add that even though the script is free, the developers have always been very responsive to my questions.

    Thanks everyone!

    http://www.biz-directory.org/directory_script.php

I heared that this site had a back door where the designers could actually edit / view the database - that has put me off a little.

I'll check them all out and see which is the best one - subcategories aren't a problem because it'll only be one level category directory.

Actually the programmer removed the backdoor in the latest version (more...)
I'm running the free version of it here. It is using the standard template still but you can change the design pretty easy, I just didn't find the time to modify it yet. The directory script itself is running absolutely stable as well.

Javier put that small code in the script to ensure that no one steals the software, and I don`t think he did it to hurt anyone, but now since he has removed it.. the script is really good.

Most of the suggestions are PHP based so I will suggest an ASP directory script:

    www.duware.com

They have free version and paid version but its almost the same except additional add-ons.

onlinemarketingtoday.com has a pretty nice script. And it's free (does require 3-4 backlinks though).

Biz directory(http://www.biz-directory.org/directory_script_full.php) spiders real nice and is fast - excellent qualities. But the online admin demo look terrible, especially for $700. Darn few accomidations for human visitors too.

Why not grab an asp one and add a url rewriter. that way you have total control over the URLs and you don't have to worry about moding the original code. On the linke above is an MSDN example (C#.net but I integrated it into a vb.net app) that I was able to get working in a couple hours for my site.

www.wsnlinks.com - really great script, very advanced and very enexpencive. Template based - very flexible, can do almost everything without coding.
