PopUps & PopUnders - Love or Hate?

Personally I can't stand sites that have popups or popunders but I was curious to get other peoples points of view on this.

I know that if I visit a site and get any type of popup or popunder I close out the ads immediately without looking at them.

    Hate so much.

Although they they do seem to work for newsletter signups on blogs, I haven't tried it myself as I hate them so much.

if done right , I can stand them. Overall if its a site needs the funds to continue to work, then i am okay with it.

I do think if the popup is presentable, then it won't be that annnoying... I wish someone can make a really cool ajax exit pop-up script.

Well, I hate them myself, and I'm pretty sure the view is pretty mutual throughout internet users, hence popup blockers :)

they are very annoying but they have been around since the internet, most people will not even look at the ads, they just think to close it. However they still can bring in some change

I hate sites with popup. Everytime I visit a site that have a popup, I will definitely walk away from that site without a second thought.

That's the way :) That will teach site owners that popups are counter productive. I do the same.

I hate them with a passion, but I have to confess I've found a couple of useful services on them. I guess it's just about targeting, if you like what you see, then great. I do have a limit though, I steer clear of sites that pop several windows up or under at once. This is frustrating as it slows everything down too much.

Another pet-hate of mine is sites that slam my browser up to full screen. In fact, I hate any sites that try to control how I like to view the web. I have a 20" screen at home and never want my browser at full because there's no need.

If a site has a popup or a popunder, its doubtful I will ever go back.

And its really doubtful I will even bookmark the site.

There is no reason to have popups on a site, except for the money. And that shows how much the owner of the site cares about visitors. Websites that drive visitors away from a few extra pennies are not worth visiting.
