How do I make a 301 redirect in Wordpress?

    I'm using a static homepage: acai-berry-health.org

But it was pointed out to me that it creates duplicate content, it shows also at: acai-berry-health.org/acai-berry

It was suggested that I make a 301 redirect to avoid the duplicate content issue. But the tutorial I looked at says to:

    -------

Here is how to do it:
Create a file on the root directory of your website, name it ".htaccess".
Open the .htaccess file using notepad or what ever text editor that you prefer.
Add this into the .htaccess file, save it and then upload it to your web server:

    Redirect 301 /old/old.html http://www.you.com/new.html

NOTE: Don't add "http://www" to the first part of the statement - place the path from the top level of your site to the page. Also ensure that you leave a single space between these elements:
redirect 301 (the instruction that the page has moved)
/old/old.html (the original folder path and file name)
http://www.you.com/new.html (new path and file name)

    ------

What file am I looking for?

Can I substitute the .php file?

And how do I find the path to the top level domain?

    Thanks

USE platinium seo pack plugin instead of all in one seo.

The help files are almost non-existant, I can't seem to figure out which one to check or uncheck to get the page to redirect. Am I looking in the right place?

    Thanks

I posted at their blog and someone over there mentioned the 301 redirect again, so I searched Google for a plugin that seems to have solved the problem. And it's REAL EASY to use, even I got it on my first try

    http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/redirection/

I think it's also the same one on the Wordpress site.

    Thanks

I use this plugin and its best choice. I don't see SEO plugin adding 301 redirects? (Or do they? I don't use overhyped SEO Packs, HeadSpace is better than them and packs functionality of many other plugins)
