    Hi all,
    I own both http://binh.name and http://binh.me What I'm really wondering is should I be using one domain only, or both?

    Facts:
    binh.name:
    - PR3,
    - age 2006,
    - Written all in English, mainly about Web development and computers.

    binh.me:
    - PR0,
    - age 2008
    - Personal blog, could become a blog in Vietnamese.

    If I should use one domain only? I know how to 301 redirect so PR will not be a big issue.

    I love binh.me because it's shorter. But on the other hand, it's not well trusted among the search engines.

    I also want to make a blog in Vietnamese, so it's kinda very complicated as I don't know if I'm using separate domain for each, then which language should be sub, which should be main?

    I really need your expert advices. Thanks in advance.

    I'm thinking taking binh.me as the main one. But en.binh.me seems to be harder to remember than www.binh.name. Am I right? Buddies, anyone?

    (.)me will pick up soon. I think it appeals more to domainers and webmasters than the (.)name simply because it's shorter. If you get a good following for the (.)me from Vietnamese websites then remembering it's subdomain extension shouldn't be a problem either considering it's a LLLL.me. Allso most of the traffic interested in your site would just click through the hyperlink of your webpartners and not run to Google to search for it. :)

    WOW, ROOFIS, Thanks!!!

    You are the first to respond to me and you are giving me very good points.

    Just to comfirm. I'm thinking :
    Case 1:
    binh.me - > English
    vi.binh.me -> Vietnamese

    Case 2:
    binh.me -> Vietnamese
    en.binh.me -> English

    Case 3.
    binh.me -> Multilingual, links to latest posts from all blogs under binh.me
    en.binh.me -> English
    vi.binh.me -> Vietnamese

    Which one you think is best?

    This works in theory but in practice you will likely lose PR and backlinks with a 301 to the new URL. Since the binh.name is established I wouldn't change it.

    I don't like the .name extension much but keeping your PR and SEO is more important.

    I'd suggest both, however they are of course both suited better for different purposes.

    You may want to think of it like this: sites pr rating/2 pages, sites pr rating/3 pages. In the long run it all depends on your sites primary language. I'm guessing Vietnamese so you'll probably end up with a lot of Vietnamese link partners. Google will access these links and their relevance to your homepage (that's if you utilize binh.me as your primary link partner url.) So you may want to write its content in Vietnamese then have a link from it to en.binh.me for the sites English translation. If your sites
    primary language is English then you would do the opposite as stated above. :)

    binh.me is better than the other one.
    You can redirect the other domain to main domain.
    You should use english to cater to international visitor.

    Thanks ROOFIS and mentos for very professional advice (option with explaination). I love it so much when someone like you guys are around.

    Also thanks Dreamerr, Jesper, and dlm for commenting.

    However, dlm, I want to say something: .com is for commercial purpose. I'd love to have binh.com but it's not available and I don't know if can buy it. So if anyone know plz let me know I will thanks by reputation.

    After all my primary language is English (surprisingly?) so I will vote one for binh.me English + vi.binh.me Vietnamese. Just still wonder because the people who would read my Vietnamese blog are normally family and friends, and those are not very Internet literate. So still need more opinions. Anyone?

    Cheers,
    Binh

    I know exactly what .com stands for - but .com is what everyone uses and remembers. Do you have a first name? I have my firstnamelastname.com and it's great.

    .me and .name are two of the worst extensions out there. Even .net would be a better choice.

    It's quite easy to remember and type.

    Thanks for explaining.

    I have a Vietnamese name so binhnguyen.com is not very friendly to those English speaking people. binh.com is lost. So I bought binh.name and binh.me

    And this is about my blog, not websites. All my commercial sites which target English people, are in .com

    Thanks everyone for participating. I really feel happier every time someone vote and comment on it.

    I still haven't redirect it yet because I am thinking this problem.

    I found out .me belong to the newly independent country named Montenegro. So making a blog/site on .me would means I'm part of Montenegro. And that's not too favorable, isn't it?

    .name on the other hand, is a true top level domain that belong to "personal use internationally".

    So does anyone change their mind now? .me or .name?

    Honestly, it doesn't matter.

    .tv is the country code for Tuvalu (it doesn't mean television) - stop being so worried about the technical meaning about the extension...

    I'm telling you, binhnguyen.com would be your best choice. I would never remember a .me domain - I'd probably type in binh.com by mistake.

    .com is almost always the correct choice for any project, because people remember it easily - it's almost like the default extension.
