adsense earnings on DP here

Golly - that sounds odd. Perhaps certain AdSense pub ids got "stuck" in the rotation and received a large percentage of impressions (thus impressions + greater possibility for clicks)?

 

I've only ever earned one cent from these forums oO;

 

I seriously doubt this is going to last...

I mean my earnings yesterday was $80+ but today at the moment its $4.5, which is still quite good I suppose!

Anyway I'll post at the end of the day to report back to you guys.

If his ad would have been 'stuck' in rotation it would have pulled a lot more than 2.5k hits.

 

Could it be a fluke? Or could it be becos of your huge amount of posts read by a lot of people...

Its possible that his ID got stuck - 2.5k impressions for threads that he's posted in seems like a reasonable amount to me. Even if hes posted in over 2k threads the old ones would have been buried by now so XX threads could well produce 2.5k impressions.

These forums get about a million uniques per day so there must be a fair bit of income to share around.

 

It makes sense, but since I don't know how stuff is coded I can't answer.
The max I've earned was $50 1 day. TBH I doubt that is real/sustainable.

Out of the people who have bothered to reply to this thread it's only us two who seems to have earnt a lot in the last few days. Doesnt this suggest theres something wrong with the distribution of IDs being shown? Interested in your opinion on this.

On another note my earnings from DP has gone upto $10 for today...

 

Maybe shawn was showing other ads as well as adsense and suddenly took them off? Or maybe a new advertiser is targetting DP with a massive budget.

 

Or maybe an increase in non-members visits to DP, finding this forum through google searches?

 

mad4 -> That is one thought I had. He had YPN ads on here before running in conjunction with Google ads. Maybe he has taken them off as you say. The thing is I only earnt $x max before YPN so I dont see how it could increase to $xx in a space of a couple of months...

Nope not mine - mine ends with "178"...

*edit* I see 2 diff IDs - one ending with "660" and the other "609". Can anyone confirm 1 of these are theirs?

But then again, how do you explain the sudden increase in impressions? It's not only the revenue per impression but also the ammount payed...

@sandossu - NO, you don't have that risk.

sandossu -> no it should be fine. The rev share system automatically disallow show your own ads.

shenron -> Say theres a thread with 9 people posting - an ad is shown at random. The ID of that ad is either Shawns or one of the 9 people posting to that thread. If 1000 people view the thread then each person theoretically gets 100 impressions.

If the thread suddenly starts showing only 2 of the 10 possible IDs then those 2 people get 500 impressions each - a considerable increase in impressions.

Of course this is looking at the situation on a small scale to simplify things.

Did that make sense?
