Hi. I bought some blog hosting for my wordpress site. It was only after purchasing I realised that they don't provide you with you with FTP details. The problem I'm having is that I need to change the image of my Wordpress template and need to upload a new image to the images folder. Is there any way of doing this or is there any plugins that allow me to do this? Any help much appreciated.
Well, there are two elements to this: 1) The actual image itself 2) The reference to it in the files, which you'll find in Appearance, Editor then in the relevant file (not an expert but I'd look in index.php, or header.php for starters ... but I'd look at them all. Surely there's some way to get stuff up there... if not, you COULD host the image somewhere entirely different, on an image hosting site that allows hot linking, then change the file url in the index/header files to where it is. That's not an official answer, but it's a doable workaround.
Thanks for the reply SEO-UK. Once the image is in the images folder I know what to to do with it. But the problem is getting the image there without the FTP. Not a bad idea about hosting the image on another site, but not ideal either. I though there might be some type of plugin that will help it but I can't seem to find any.
Change your host. Not providing ftp is worse than useless. May I ask what you paid for your Blog hosting.
Changin your host is the permanent solution. Almost every provider allow money back offers. I doubt that in your hosting. Host linking the image is the temp solution to you. login to your dash board go to theme editor, look for header.php, find the links creating php code, remove it and add a static html host linking to external image. I strongly recommend you to change the host, FTP will be crucial to change themes, add plugins, widgets, etc. HAPPY BLOGGING!
Thanks for all your suggestions. It's costing £24 per year for the blog hosting. Only found out after that they didn't provide FTP. Have the One Click Install plugin that allows uploading themes, Plugins etc. through the admin section of Wordpress. Not suitable for uploading pics though. Thanks again!
Just a quick update. Found this plugin here that allows you to edit files without FTP. http://themes-plugins.com/myftp-wordpress-plugin/
