Right now I currently write and run two style blogs, and I've been trying hard to promote both. I've heard of the various ways to promote blogs but none seem to work. Yes I'm on Google and Yahoo but that doesn't seem to drive very many new visitors. I love Twitter, but most of my followers are in different niche, MySpace and Facebook are for children, and Digg,Stumble,Technorati are completely useless. The only thing that actually seems to work(and it only works so much) is by commenting on other people blogs on a regular basis. Now what do I do next? Thanks ahead of time~
What is your niche? How long have your blogs been up? Did you do research on the keywords you are ranking for in Google and Yahoo to see how many people actually search for that term?
Write some articles on your niche and submit them to article directories. Write some more and ask fellow blog owners in your niche if they are interested in a unique content article for their site in exchange for the backlink.
Article Marketing is one of the best ways to go. Adwords is another if you want to pay out of your ass to get "Real" results that you can benefit from. Have you tried any type of SEO?
Start getting back links, pinging, doing social bookmarking, link exchanges. The traffic will come, it really does take time and does not happen overnight.
Someone may have pointed this out already, I admit I havn't read the replies yet but are you aware that Twitter has a seperate website that lets you search for what people are Twittering for? Did you just get excited? Well I'm serious and amazingly a lot of people still don't know this. It's here. Now you can search Twitter to see who is tweeting with your keywords. I use it to promote my blogs all the time. Best part is since you get targeted results you won't feel like a spammer. If you combine this with a URL shortening service with analytics like Cligs then you've really got something. You can see how many people actually clicked and what country they are from in real time.
Go where your potential audience is. If there are popular forums for your niche, post there and leave links where appropriate.
Huh? weird...some method you said works with me... Twitter - I have twitter account on each blog, and it gives constant traffic since my blog content automatically tweeted...how much your follower on twitter account? much follower = much traffic Social Bookmarking also works especially with digg and reddit... Video marketing is also works...try to post not only to youtube...post it to other video site too using tubemogul... hope it helps
Plenty of good advice in here. Keywords, article submission, social bookmarking and posting to relevant sites and forums can get you started. Make your posts informative. Google loves quality content.
I think you should try to improve your ranking in SEs. Try to build some high quality and relevant backlinks and add useful content in your site, that will help to increase organic traffic. Other sources of traffic are ok, but organic traffic is the most targeted traffic one can get for free.
Hi, like most guys said, just post articles, advertise to friends, and generally have good content in your blogs, maybe buy some advertising as well. hope this gives some help...
How does your ping list look? I think you should really consider using it as a form of free advertising since it updates a lot of websites any time you post new material to your blog! You could also do a lot of social bookmarking such as Stumble Upon, digg, etc. Also, if you have a twitter account you could use that by creating a catchy little tweet and then including a link to your website. That will drive traffic for sure. However, if your blog is crap, don't expect to have any return visitors!
Good find. I'll pass that along to my readers who are interested in such methods. Thanks. shopinchic, I'm going to assume you know about ShoeMoney.com and JohnChow.com. They both have well over 100,000 monthly hits. They did it mainly through advertising. None of these noob methods, and, worrying about seo. Word of mouth soon took over. That's because they don't, period. At least you found out. NOW you can work on things that DO work. If you want a lot of hits, those two bloggers are prime examples that you have to advertise.
