Would very successful adsense earnings cause you to quit your day job?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by confusion, Apr 21, 2009.

Assuming you have a day job, would you quit to focus on website/SEM work, if the income from adsense was sufficient to maintain your life style?

Or, would you view the income as too unreliable and maintain a career and steady pay check?

Yes, I quit my day job one month ago. Now 99% of my income is Adsense based.

If the Adsense earnings were reliable, I would.

I think it's best to diversify your income sources. Quitting your day job for online income is okay, but it's best to have a number of sources in case one falls out.

If you are just relying on adsense income, then no, don't quit your day job. If you are just relying on adsense, then you really haven't gone and explored all of the possibilities there are to earn an income online.

Get some affiliate income, get some link income, explore every avenue and be diversified, then quit your day job.

Getting diversified shows that you are nimble enough to find the income you need when one door closes....you know another will quickly open up.

Can you quit your day job with Adsense earnings? Sure. Should you then use the extra time to diversify your income? It's upto you - I would suggest that's a good idea :)

Well I won't be quitting my day job (since Google AdSense is already part of my "day job" :D) but definitely I will focus on....other areas of internet marketing, if Google AdSense were high enough for me.

Well, technically, yes...you can quit your day job, providing your adsense income meets your day job income.

But Adsense is shaky, based on how many ppl wake up one day to get 'the email' - so unless your adsense income is steady, i'd say 6+ months, then it's ok to quit your day job.

I won't quit even I can earn more money in adsense because it's totally different to have a job for a long term gain.

I agree with this guy. I say create another income stream or two before you go throwing all your eggs in the AdSense basket. Especially considering how wishy-washy Google is with their systems for calculating quality scores and such.

    You're from the Phillippines, correct?

Most, if not all, Asian countries place a very high emphasis on having a job. Having a job is your face, and self-worth in society.

So working from home, doing this adsense stuff is kind of looked down upon.

    Am I correct: yes, no?

$5-$10 per day isn't too bad, but I wouldn't say it's enough to quit a job for. It's been said already - you need to have several different types of income streams contributing to the total, so mix in some affiliate stuff as well, and anything else you can think of.
