HELP NEEDED! Database cannot connect

Hi there Guys!
I migrated my site to a new server and I had backed up my site. I uploaded the compressed version of the backup to the new server. But when the upload was completed i saw that i wasn't compressed. Anyways, I'll tell you step by step of what i did :-

1) Made a New DB and a User
2) Imported the SQL File to the New DB
3) Changed the config.php details
4) Transferred the back up file to public_html of my server

What am i missing? or did i do something wrong? Please help me.. it's very urgent!

 

That error usually means your connection details (username, password, host and database name) are incorrect. You need to make sure they're correct in (I assume) config.php.

 

thanks for the reply.. yea i checked it like 10 times... still can't find the problem.. coz that error means that there is some problems with the user details... i can't find the problem... should i make a new user and put those details again?

 

Make sure that for the user you are creating, that user has full access rights (privelleges) to the database. Obviously, the database name, username & password as listed in your configuration file (if Wordpress, config.php) must correspond with the user you created and the database your created.

 

Remember that databases and usernames often have prefixes, like: db_admin and db_blog.

 

hostname also can be remote on some different server. so you need to check with hosting company to make sure from host ip.
anyway why you don't send to them. they should be able to fix the problem for you for free.

Hi BRUm, yes that was the problem. I backed up my files and i didnt change the db name in username n password lol... silly mistake by me!! thanks!!!!!
