I know that google doesn't allow the placement of more than three text/image ads on one page, but I saw quite a few websites (I can't give you any links though, but if needed I can do some research) which have 6-7 adsense units on their pages. The fact that they do and they will eventually get banned is not really my concern, but how they do it - just out of curiosity. Because if I would try to place more than three text/image ads on a page, the extra ones would simply not show. So how come some websites can do it? And, just to make sure everything gets it clear: I am certainly talking about Google AdSense ads only, and only text or image ad blocks.
According to adsense policy, you are allowed to place maximum of 3 ad blocks (text/image) But, no restriction for placing the 'search' links I feel, you have also counted the 'search' links alongwith the ad blocks
No, I am talking about ad blocks. There are websites that have more than 3 Google adsense ad blocks there, all working.
AdSense publishers may place up to three AdSense for content units on one webpage. In addition to the three standard ad units, you may also place a maximum of three link units and two search boxes on each webpage. You may also place one AdSense for video unit on each webpage if it's available in your language. However, keep in mind that placing the maximum number of allowed ad units on a page may result in it looking cluttered. DON.
I think that could be a premium adsense publisher. they have much more options than ordinary publishers.
More likely what iBall said, there were different publisher ids probably. The site I am talking about was a local website which certainly got no more than at most a couple hundred visitors per day. So premium publisher is clearly out of the question. However, it might be different IDs. Never thought that would work out @Don: Thanks for the lesson, but what does what you said have to do with the topic we're discussing???
I would not worry since you don't even need 3 ad blocks on any page, never mind 6. It's a misconception that more ads = more revenue. Dean
Right. In fact, you stand with a chance to get smart priced for this if you CTR is poor, which can adversely affect your earnings instead of increasing.
i cannot imagine how the would look like. that site must be really looking cluttered. that might discourage searchers going back to the site or might simply leave the site. anyways its not business but those site may not get good amounts per click as those advertisers can of those paying a lot less. Thanks JulieV
I guess you can have more than 3 ad blocks in the same page with same id but only 3 ad blocks will show and the rest will not be shown. check out ahiddenlist.com. only the first 3 ad blocks are showing.
You can have 3 ads 3 text links and search boxes. Why would you want more. The more ads shown on one page the lower the click thru and lower amount your paid for any clicks.
I believed that not all of them are text/image ads but some of them are link ads. Adsense allow maximum 3 text/image ads units + 3 link ads units at one page
