I use e-texteditor. I think it is great i used to use dreamweaver just because I had it with the adobe suite. However I did a tutorial where the guy was using e-texteditor and I loved so many of the features on it that I went and got it. Now I won't use anything else. Unless I am forced to.

Notepad is great for the begginer, because it helps them to learn the basics and what needs to go into a website.

Then after some basics it's better to introduce an autocomplete/syntax highliting editor for efficency.

For example I used Dreamweaver's Coding tab to learn, as a result I actually didn't know where to open and close the html tags as these were automatically there.
I also didn't know how to correctly insert stylesheets & javascript without autocomplete help!!

Yeah, like a real program developed by professionals, such as Ultra Edit. For scripting, design, and programming projects, this thing just can't be beaten. I've been using it since '00 or so, and I just love the thing to death.

Sure, you can get some of what you want from a product such as Notepad ++, but you won't find much to compare with Ultraedit (or ultracompare, it's file comparison partner). I swear, I don't know what I'd do without those any more.

I rarely use notepad for editing html and stuff but it's like my second brain.. I've got 4 wordpad documents open at all times with random jargon and thoughts for projects and stuff...

Yes Notpad is a webmaster's best friend. I definitely use it for websites, mainly for quick editing.
