Pagerank remains if backlinks remains, sometimes it lowers -1 but mostly it keeps. For example I've bought PR5 domain with 60,000 backlinks (dofollow and nofollow) and it was PR5 for about 8 month, now it's PR4 but I don't work on this domains. But you must keep relevant content
