nothing like oldtimes.. it affected by the world crisis, thats why adwords publishers are decreasing their advertising cost.
Nearly 2.5-3 years ago is when i recall (somewhat vividly) that Google jacked prices & took out (imo) a majority chunk of a low cost market. Today, and over the last ~1.5-2 years people have completely forgotten its (prior) existence. There was a time when a much larger volume, more transparent, lower cost market existed. Getting 1-5c clicks on adwords was far from viewed as an 'impossibility.' - Believe it or not there was a time i could hit google's front page (~major phrase) for 10-25c a pop At the same time, (at that time) - the ceiling of high paying niches seemed no different then today. It seems obvious to me, as a result of google's changes, people aren't making any more money then they were 3 years ago. There was also a time when putting in a (~major) search phrase on the engine yielded much more (advertisement/adwords) competition. Now today, (as an example) i can toss in 'Chicago news' on the main page/engine and yield <= *1* advertisement .. that is easily proven < then * or +other. - This is (paid) cost > relevance. Google at the time (of the change), and i'm sure today, will claim the low cost market that existed (then) was either too risky (+/-c. fraud) or too often provides irrelevance. - & Probably a hint of it just costing them (slightly) more. While i might agree on that, even up to 25% (irrelevance) per ~12 advertisements.. The reality is, back then.. up to 50% (of 12) were (+/-relatively) low cost, relevant, & often refreshing(ly) independent. Pushing aside the (up to) quarter of irrelevant advertisements vs the benefit of ~50%+ more (results) showing up, was quite worth it compared to the (often null) situation today. (Today) It's like (walking in &) referring to Costco as a 'Market'. Yes.. look the wonderful 'independent' 'free market' we have here.. or not. - Not exactly a 'tourist trap' - - I'd much rather look @ 10-12 advertisements w/~3-4 of them being BS vs 1-2 (arguably marginal) relevant (& obviously 'paid for') advertisements. Today the 'big players' you find on the right side, have less to do with relevance, and a lot more to do with cost. IMO I see ~50% cost driven, ~25% ((technical) (+/-google/adwords specific)) SEO & ~25% actual relevant (+volume) content. In other words, (and imo) relevant content only accounts for ~25% of the reason of 'making it' <Insert 'User Experience'> -> <Insert 'Quality Score'> I'd rather not rant on about the joke referred to as a 'quality score'. So i'll summarize it like this; In the face of the most relevant content you can find, adwords will gladly slap it with a '0'. - It's like 2 people standing in front of a brick wall and one arguing 'that's not a brick wall' Today everything is about (obvious) ROI. If you aren't selling something, you're screwed. I might as well blow up adsense smart pricing. As time goes on i'm seeing less & less 'automatic' and more & more 'human' in the 'slap'. I could nearly prove it. I smell intent(ional irrelevance) Between adsense/adwords (especially adwords) the lack of transparency available (to/for the customers benefit) is not only offensive, i question its legality. I've had several 'explanation'/responses ~recently from google support .. that .. words can't even begin to explain. I'm starting to wonder how these people sleep at night. Yes, and it would be unfortunate if it took a collapse before something else popped up. Google would be foolish to think they aren't already walking a line. In summary, the reason adsense pays less & adwords costs more is because Google decided to f' themselves & us. Emphasis on themselves.. and us. .
Well whatever is going on I just checked my earnings and in April I have had 6 of the worst days in my 4 year plus history while my traffic has remained stable. The bottom line is now I am forced to cut my adwords budget by 50% this month, and I may just end up turning it off in May, which all just feeds into the whole cycle I guess. If I cannot get a decent 10 cents a click out of my traffic now then I sure and the heck aint going to spend 25 or 30 cents to show my ads on Adwords. On the subject of the thread I have tried just about every affiliate out there which has to do with dating all were horrible. I tried the Adsense wannabes and they are even worse than Adsense. I signed up for the Microsoft program and they did not even respond. I guess my 300,000 to 400,000 page views a month was not even worth a look. I am thankful for the money I earned with Adsense over the past 4 plus years, really I am. It is just time for me to focus on other things and let the website become a lower priority in my life. I will take another look at things in 6 months and see if things improve. If not then I will look again 6 months after that
I think filipina you may be over reacting. As all other I am also hoping adsense would get back to its glory.. Well have you tried to sell your advertising space. 300000 to 400000 page views is mammoth. you can sell your ad space an make a decent money.. Have you ever tried it. I turned to freelancing after some bad experience and I am really making a good money now a days. I promote websites and make a decent living along with Adsense.
