safest number of backlinks for new sites

What would be the safest number of backlinks for a new site? Let's say the site is 2 month old and I create 20 backlinks a day or 600 in a month and I keep doing this consistently. Is this a good strategy or will google sandbox my site? Can I go higher than 20 backlinks a day, maybe 50 or 100?

Maybe it would be better to get a link from dmoz, and yahoo directory first to establish a site in the eyes of google and then start creating 20 backlinks a day or perhaps after the site has a link from yahoo directory, dmoz I can start adding 100 links a day. What is the general strategy for new sites? I am trying to fly under a radar etc ... and make sure that the site is not sandboxed.

 

I've never read any mention of a recommended number of links. If the links are "quality" related links I don't think there will be a problem getting them as fast as you can.

Your idea of getting links from Yahoo directory and DMOZ may not be as easy as you think. Yahoo charges $299 per year for commercial sites and DMOZ is a very hard place to get listed.

 

I don't think there really is a problem in getting a lot of backlinks, as long as you don't do anything spammy or back hat then you should be fine. But you should take your time with a new website since it's going to be in the google sandbox for 6 months or more.

 

Well, I prefer quality of links compare to the number of it. Tons of crap links are nothing to a single high PR related link

I can't recommend a specific number of backlinks. What you should do is build quality links. Link only with relevant sites with good reputation. Quality is more important than quantity in SEO.

 

Are all new sites automatically put into sandbox by google? Sandbox indicates that web site will not rank well? Am I correct? Why should I take my time with a new website? Let's say I launch an aggressive link building campaign, does that mean google will prolong my sandbox term or de-index my keyword rankings?

No need to think about the amount, just add few quality backlinks. Don't go for many.

Work on one way links as much as you can, Keep in mind If you are using some description type of things then be unique for particular links. There are many ways to get back link, work on all of it simultaneous.
