Where am I going wrong???

    Hi All,

I really need to work on this link development, where am I going wrong here?

4 year old blog, loved by all major search engines, getting around 2k unique visitors per day. Used to be PR3-4 than multiple hacks due to being with servage (probably worlds worst hosting company!) made it a PR0.

Now I seem to not be able to get it any PR at all, I still get the traffic, so how do I go about getting the PR back????

    Is it random links anywhere?

I think for regaining the same PR you will have to do some quality SEO work. Good that you are getting the same traffic.

I'm sorry Version2, it's somehow unclear to me what kind of problems were caused by the hacks? Could you elaborate a little bit?

You need to make sure there are no hidden links in your site and then you need to contact google through your webmaster tools account and tell them what happened. It's all automated so you need to tell someone whats going on so they can fix it. I've had the same thing happen to me and it was fixed within a week.

Yes hacks meant lots and lots of backlinks to porn sites etc. All but one of the times did we notice them. The last time it was there for about a month hidden away before we spotted it.

The PR dropped from 3 to 2 to 1 to 0 and the traffic then fell away from 2000 uniques per day to 100-200. The traffic has come back, but not the PR.

    hope that explains.

Remove any 'black hat SEO' (cloaked text/links, keyword stuffing, etc.), if you have that. Repair any broken links. Do basic SEO if you haven't done that. I mean keywords in H1, H2. Check keyword density.

Look for high PR blogs, in your niche would be best. Post useful comments and use your anchor text to link to your site.

It's great to have a PR5 website but traffic is more important. You maintained your traffic levels and that's most important.

do not worry about PR. the similar thing happened to me with just one difference - i think my site was sabotaged. the site lost pr and never got it back - it still sits at pr0. BUT, it beats all high pr sites for most popular keywords still and the traffic never subsided. so, the point is, forget about pr and do whatever you do to keep getting traffic from SEs.
