    I just love you DMOZ.

I just opened up a site today to check if it still works in all browsers and guess what my toolbar show a 1 next to the dmoz icon.. I clicked it and guess wattttt.. Dmoz have picked up my site and listed me.

I never even applied because it was not a site I try to rank or something. It is my pet site where I don't even put adsense..

    Lovely man.

Just proves what We have all been talking about.
Write for Human Readers not google...

I don't plan to add adsense or anything.
This is a site where I make friends with bloggers all over the world who would link to any site I request them to help promote :)

And see even Dmoz editors love it.

    Whoever listed it.. Thank you..

I am going to post there everyday now :)

    Why I am posting here?

    OK to say that:

    1) You still can get listed in Dmoz.
    2) A DMOZ listing still bumps up the Pagerank.
    3) If you develop a site on a topic you genuinely care about and write for human readers, dmoz will link to it even if it has a standard Kubrick WP Theme
    4) And I am happy...
    5) And DMOZ is Broken = Grapes are sour! = your site has crappy content.
    6) Some editors still browse the web to find list worthy sites.

In fact this is one of the most common ways that editors find worthwhile sites to list.
It is a common misconception that volunteers use suggested sites as their primary resource. :)

This is impressive, another prove that we should concentrate on content and positive user experience, and not adsense, etc

I submitted my site to DMOZ a year ago and it's still not there, but I'm not surprised as it doesn't have a lot of good and unique content, still working on it.... I know, I know, a year is a long time

I can;t over-emphasize the amount of pressure Dmoz editors are given to Search for sites . Scour this forum only and you will see several editors specifying that they are sometimes even hinted towards not reviewing submitted websites.
As the OP said , create content for human visitors - that's what ODP volunteers are.
