[Only 6 steps] How to get more traffic to your blog

I made this post for the new bloggers so they can get more traffic to their blogs ....

    Step 1 :
Submit your URL to search engines
You should get alot of traffic if you only add your site to Google. You should also add your RSS-feed to Google Blog Search and Yahoo.

    Step 2 :
    Name your pictures :

I’ve seen that I often do get traffic from Google picture search. So it’s wise to give the pics you upload to your blog a real name. Instead of DSC_22344.JPG which is given by the camera, call it volvo_2009.jpg.

    Step 3:
    Pingback and Trackback:

When you write an article for your blog, make sure to find other relevant site that have the same topic and link to them. Because of a feature called pingback and trackback, the link to your post will often be posted as comment on the blog you link to.

    Step 4:
    Tag your post

It will really help you if you tag your posts. It helps you and your readers to easy find things in a specific categories to read. It also helps search engines.

    Step 5:
    Social networks
if you are registered in Facebook or Hi5 , you could use the statusbar to link to post that could be of interest for your friends.

    Step 6:
    Digg it

If you’ve written a great blogpost, like I did with this one, digg it. While I don’t get that much traffic from Digg.com, it do help. It’s one of the biggest news sites out there.

I guess most bloggers already use these methods, but they are still good.
Me myself often use Facebook and Twitter to post "updates" from my blog to make people interested in what I'm writing. Before I started to use Facebook I had an average of 50-60 users each day, but after "boosting" my websites from linking to it on Facebook I'm getting around 2-300 readers daily.

I wouldn't agree with the first one... it's always better that search engines find your website in a natural way, from a link on other site...

I've read most of these tips elsewhere, but I will say that naming pictures is a good idea... they also have plugins that will help with that.

How can we name pictures in blogger, or do you have to use something like Wordpress to do that?

even the search engines discourage people from submitting their sites/blogs to them if it helped to get indexed then everybody would submit and have their site be indexed fast specially google likes to find sites pr blogs through links.

I've never felt the need to submit my blogs to search engines, they always find me naturally.

It has never taken me longer than a week to get indexed.

I also agree with step 4 - tag your posts. For some reason I always find that my tags are indexed first before anything else.

A lot of people ignore the picture titles, that is a good one..the only one I disagree with it Hi 5 (LOL). Every email I get asking for a friend or link exchange always comes from some 12 year old kid on that spam bowl....not a big fan.

But the other tips are basics that every new webmaster should follow.

    Actually, bloggers know that.
But naming pictures with a good name is a good idea. Most of the webmasters use the images names like 0001.jpg etc. Yes! The names should be relevant ones.
    Good Thanks!
