It is easy to boost your website PR to 8 above that if your website is based on news, blogs, forums that get updated in minuts and google index it 100 times in a day.
Thing is that domain is over 11 years old, with more than 72,147 incoming links. It ranks for several good keywords and is linked back from several high authority sites there is no wonder it's PR 8. PR doesn't matter that much it's just a score out of 10 given by google. The importance of the webpage. If you notice the site doesn't receive massive amounts of traffic even if the domain age is 11 years old.
Fabulous job....yes news sites obtain a high page rank because the content and articles within are cited quite often as sources! Way to go!
Sorry but this is another lame and pointless thread. Its easy to say "stick with clean white ways" when your client is a national printed newspaper. This thread is no more than a waste of bandwidth.
am not gonna answer to all negative posts ,BUT QUICK ONE WILL BE: IF U ...., CAN GET PR8 WHAT THE HELL U R DOING HERE ? but quick ways: the site yes old and was playing between pr6 pr7 and in last 6 months was pr6.(and it did play %50 to get pr8) the other %50 (what i did) 1- title , descriptions the classic ..were not right (just many words without meaning). 2- each section got direct links back based on the strong word in that section (ex.weather). 3- cleaning all the pages .(code) 4- reduce outlinks from the site. 5- submit to right again right directory sections. 6- am gonna keep it to my self. 7- am gonna keep it to my self. 8- twitter again twitter again twitter. (if you want google to think good about ur site ) twitter twitter. 9- digg+ flickr and social sites were good for buzz .
great job, i agree: There are several factors that got you the pr8. 1. Domain Age 2. Updated Unique Relevant content 3. Natural link building, most stories create a buzz and are naturally linked from similar/subject related websites
Wow great job! I know there are many factors involved aside from your SEO, but you must be doing your job well too!
News website are very easy to get up to PR5-PR8 because as the news company becomes more legit and respected in their market they will continue to get daily back links from trusted sources. Many news websites only need some listings for SEO and the rest would be more on-page SEO than anything else to make sure the PR juice spreads throughout the pages accordingly.
