I thought of a somewhat unique idea. What if I created a newsletter with the theme of "interesting links/games for when you're bored at work/school" and sent it several times a week, with all the members double-opt in. Then, once the list grew, people who own online flash game sites, etc. could plug their links in the newsletter for a nominal fee, like $3, and have their link included in that edition of the newsletter. Is this a decent idea? As an owner of a flash game type of site, would you see a value in this if the list had atleast a thousand subscribers or so? Thanks.
I think it's an idea that would work, but I would be sure to retain the right to accept/reject any links that didn't meet your pre-determined criteria. And I would let the audience of the newsletter know what the criteria is. I think that's the value you're adding -- you're the gatekeeper of the links that really are worthwhile, and I'd be judicious with what gets accepted (perhaps create categories and find your newsletter's niche). Otherwise as an audience member, I wouldn't be too interested -- it would just seem like another list where I'd have to weed through lots of junk to find the gems.
Thanks for the reply. I'd probably limit it to 10-15 links per newsletter to keep it from getting junky, and I like the idea of reviewing the link before accepting it.
It seems like a fair and good idea. Both you and the game creators will earn on doing this, and those who receives the newsletter will always get the newest games. It's a win-win situation and a good idea.
I think rather than sending newsletters to unknown receivers you should share it using few social networking sites.
Yes it sound workable. But the arcade owner need some prove that your mailing list is legit 2x opt in. And you need to set a quota that what is the max link can be sent each day in order to maximize the arcade owner link exposure to subscriber.
The idea is good, but for the record....if you ever have a good idea don't blabber your mouth about it until you have it working. You might end up having the competition launch the service even before you do.
I think its a great idea, im always looking for something to do when im bored, specially during the colledge classes which can be long and boring, inform me if you will make your idea work.
it could work. but I think it requires some kind of continuous effort on your part to maintain this business
I think one of the good idea is still with traditional marketing online ,you build a blog that fill with your flash game and attract more and more player and then activate the feed mail as usual and offered your plan, and remember since it is "paid to program plan"plan also how will you compete the competitions.
