I just submitted 3 of my sites to: http://www.tech-faq.com/new-proxies.shtml And it appeared in the list but when you click on any of the proxies in the list it redirects abeboproxy site DO you guys face the same problem ?? If so what can I do about it.. Regards
The listing works like that so that the hits can be counted. Thats why all have different extention to the site link shown on the page. ALl listing websites where the hits are count work in the same way..!
That's not what he means. He means the final redirection is all going to the same place. It's not happening for me. Everything is fine for me. Try clearing your cookies and cache and try again.
No mate, It's getting redirected to http://www.abeboproxy.com/?id=33544 Please check. I have cleared cache and cookies !
IDK it's working fine for me. I guess don't worry about it for now and ask Will.Spencer on http://netbuilders.org about it.
I just found out that abeboproxy.com is owned by Will Spencer !! http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=510084&highlight=abeboproxy.com Is it some kinda scam ???? And he is banned from dp lol !!!
If you copy the link and open it via your browser then it will redirect to abeboproxy.com. You need to click it via the proxy listing site in order to go to the right place. It's a security measure.
Omg ! I am not a noob man ! I am telling you once again what's going on.. I go to the list, click on a proxy then it right away redirects me to : http://www.abeboproxy.com/?id=33544 Am not copy pasting anything at all ! Is it something to do with Geoip and country blockers ?
Do you have refferrs disabled? If you copy paste the link directly into the browser, it redirects to abeboproxy.com . yes. But this leads me to belive that anyone who sends blank or wrong reffers will be sent to abeboproxy.com.. Click on this link and see if you send an HTTP refferer. http://www.whatismyreferrer.com/ Everyone else click on this link and you will sent to abeboproxy for sending the wrong refferer or blank one. http://www.tech-faq.com/proxy/hits.php?id=33547
What is my referrer? Referrer: - IP: xxxxxxx User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032609 Firefox/3.0.8 GTB5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Host Name: ABTS-KK-Dynamic-254.211.167.122.airtelbroadband.in Request Method: GET Query String: -
Please remove your IP, that is something personal you shouldn't put in your post. yes you have no Referrer being sent. That is your problem. Alot of people though DONT send refferers so that is really stupid idea for Tech-faq and highly questionable.
:giggles: Removed it Well ye it is quite questionable. Cos seriously I do not know what am supposed to be doing to get it work the way it should lol.. Well seriously, what are the advantages and disadvantages of not having a referrer ??
As Will is banned and can't come to explain this for you, I thought I would give it a try because I am a programmer and the logic behind his system does make sense. On Tech FAQ and all of Will's proxy lists they have a page called 'Popular Proxies' which is ordered by the number of hits a proxy receives over time. To prevent people from manipulating this feature only hits which are refered by the Tech FAQ domain are counted. Any external hits would typically be robots and / or spam bots which quite rightly should be discounted. This is why any blank referer or external referer gets redirected elsewhere. Typically people that use proxies (people at work / school) would not have access to disable or alter the referer settings for a browser and thus the volume of people using Will's lists that don't have a referer set would be quite low.
Thanks very much for your great post SilkySmooth! You are right on, we were forced to disable access to hits.php from external referrers because some proxy owners were spamming the proxy list in order to get on the "Popular Proxies" list. SOULZRIPPER was experiencing difficulties because he disabled referrers in his browser, but he's all fixed now. We've also changed the default "bounce" URL from A Bebo Proxy to The Tech FAQ Proxy List. I have no idea why I didn't think of that earlier. Everyone seems to be happy now -- except for the people who were cheating.
How about instead an extra page to the outgoing link, and intermediary page. Which then uses meta redirect, but also contains a javascript to check if its the top frame else bust it out of the frame. That would certainly stop anyone trying to automatically say place the link in an iframe and let their visitors do the work for them to spam up their hits. Next refferers is kinda of a lazy approach, you should should only allow hits from a IP once then discount any further hits from that IP. But I think Tech-faq has that already implemented. I I think another layer of protection would be to generate a unique KEY for link which is generated for new visitor to the page and expires. So to get threw a link it would be something like http://www.tech-faq.com/proxy/hits.php?id=35397&sessionKey=89d8f98d98 , once the leave their key will expire. The link will dead. All the popular video website do this to protect their FLV files from hotlinking.
