Either can work well if you have good targeted traffic. Not knowing your blog or your niche, I can only give you general advice that may or may not be applicable.

Amazon astores look nice when you embed them properly, but Amazon requires a lot of traffic and sales to break the payout barrier, but it is the easiest way to add a store and has the biggest variety of products.

A lot of people do well with just product reviews and product links. Books, Personal Electronics (Cameras, Phones, MP3 Players) are always good for those.

Generally speaking, just placing product links in the sidebar doesn't really do that well...I find that I get more clicks on my product links when it is inserted with an article about the product, or when I have a video that goes with it, like the ad I just placed last night.

Hard to say what will work best without knowing your niche.

Sounds more like you want to create a product shop using affiliate marketing like ebay or amazon or a datafeed from an affiliate as opposed to creating your own ecommerce site.

You can achieve all of these by reading about specific plug ins designed to integrate into wordpress.

I use an ebay plug in on one of my sites and it's quite easy to implement. So figure out what you want to sell and then find an appropriate plug in and read up.

Most of these plug ins will have a small fee associated with them.
