100% Complete Rip-Off My Site (Sponsored by a Legal Firm WT*?)

Discussion in 'Legal Issues' started by M3rC, Apr 3, 2009.

    Hey All,

    It's come to my recent attention that a blog (www .justblogging.info) is completely ripping off my site. Now, they've been just balatanly copying all of our posts for some time now but only recently did we find them.

    No contact information can be found on the site, and all our comments get rejected by the sleazebag of a owner of the site.

    Quite ironically in their footer says "Sponsored by [LINK]" and that link goes to a legal firm. Which makes no sense but I've contacted them just now and I've asked to state their affiliation with the copyright infringing site.

    Till they reply, I don't really think I can do much - but afterwards what would be the next step?

    Thanks for any input! :)

    Since they have adsense you can also send a complaint to google. They may ban their account because of copyright infringment.

    I'm liking how they put the main title as a makeover of your site, not theirs...

    <my 2 cents>

    Do a WHOIS on their domain and see who hosts them, and then contact their host. A DMCA Violation letter may be handy, it will at least shut them down for a bit. I'd try it even if you didn't have any intention of following through with your legal threat :)

    </my 2 cents>

    Wow, that is the weirdest thing that I have ever seen. Just rat them out to their host, that should do the trick.

    I know. Classic bonehead :) You just can't make up how stupid people are. The owner probably has many like this that he is ripping off, and from the looks of things, it's not working too well. No readers, No PR, and probably no adsense money. The next step would be to get his adsense account banned...he doesn't need it anymore.

    .info blog together with a copy and paste method. I am guessing this one is a work of a newbie webmaster trying to do blogging :D.

    Reporting this to it's webhosting provider might just solve the problem. Or give him a BIG punch by reporting his blog to Google adsense team.

    Wishing you luck bro...

    The site is hosted with Caro.net
    Anyway, I see that they're using autoblog plugin. So, one way to prevent this is for you to make ALL your feed to show only excerpt rather than full.

    Thanks for all your input guys! Really appreciate the quick feedback - I've taken your advice and have already done the following;

    - Filed a Report to Google Adsense Team
    - Emailed a nice complaint letter to their Web-host (thanks proxywhereabouts)
    - Emailed a complaint letter to the domain owner's email address (thank you WhoIs.com!)

    Details of the Site/Owner;
    Registrant Name:Tanbir Ahmed
    Registrant Street1:Mohammadpur
    Registrant City:Dhaka
    Registrant State/Province:Dhaka
    Registrant Postal Code:1207
    Registrant Country:BD
    Registrant Phone:+880.1670073459
    Name Server:ns1.gfxwebhosting.com
    Name Server:ns2.gfxwebhosting.com

    Most of it is probably faked but I've sent an email none-the-less.

    1) He is a stupid n00b. I actually find it amusing. Maybe he read some scam ebook. Just scare him.. Don't be too harse and complain adsense. Just teach him that he is doing wrong...
    2) He is not sponsored by a legal firm. It is just a wp theme footer sponsor link

    Don't forget to send the DCMA to their hosting company first before going straight to the DC.

    Luckily the stuff has been taken down. :) It was rather funny that he was posting stuff straight out of our News category to his blog, looked really bad on his part.

    Thanks for the replies everyone, the threat worked :)
    haha, he got scared and just replied with a guilty "removed" email.

    I think he's ripping off another site now, cause he immediately posted like 20+ lengthy posts

    I've been in contact with the new owner of the website: ripperhunting.com and the website was built for this specific reason.

    They'll screen shot your site and the ripper and post your info as well as his and be shown.

    If some of you remember the website, You know it was sold and was offline for about 2 years and has been online now for approx. 4 Months.

    Well i think is a software that automatically posts from a site, so next time you can try posting about your site, with your link everywhere =)

    this is bad. probably the legal firm did not do any background check and make sponsor to the rip off site. I heard before about DMCA, any chance?
