Selling A Site - Which Payment Method?

Discussion in 'Payment Processing' started by WPThemeKid, Apr 3, 2009.

    Hello,

I am selling a site, should go for around $2k or so.

Anyway, I am just wanting to know what payment method should I use?

Paypal - Chargeback and I could lose the site?
Escrow - Fees and takes a while to clear as far as I know; like a week?
Western Union - Been thinking about it, but don't a lot of people selling get scammed?

    Let me know please.

I would use Moneybookers every single time, unless the buyer is someone like Google xD.... They can't really chargeback with Moneybookers so you won't have much of a problem.

Here is what I might do in this case.

Have the buyer provide a shipping address... upon purchase.. Than make a physical disc with the site files on it and than use a confirmation number and probably get insurance too on the shipping, and send this disc to them.. What this does is proves the buyer has received the goods. Than they can not win a paypal charge back dispute, because you have physical docs for proof of sending and receiving the goods.

Have the buyer select physical goods when paying with paypal.. And if a buyer is not wanting to do these things to get a site for $2000? Than they must not really want the $2000 site very bad, in which case I would not want to sell them the site worth that much anyway.

If you worry about chargeback issue in paypal then definately go with escrow as worth to wait and paying high fees as your 2k is safe that way.

    DON.

I would go with Escrow. It depends on which payment method you're using in Escrow and how many days of inspection you set.

You should use Escrow to make this deal in order to protect yourself from possible scam. or sell it through the auction websites such as sedo.com

I too agree with above poster. If I would be in your position then I would have used Escrow as it is the safest mode. You just need to wait for few extra days but you get paid secrely.
