Was surfing through WMW forums and found this this which says http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adsense/3875603.htm and i do agree on this : 1. Dont add Ads just to fill the pages 2. Add Ads after testing the most clicked area on your blogs 3. Keep changing Ad sizes and locations every fortnight or month. 4. Keep Rotating Adsense ad colours on page refresh 5. Block useless Ads 6. Keep checking the logs for fraud clicks and report them on time. Overall that referred thread says that with less number of ads on your page you may be losing some extra revenue in long run. Whats your experiance with this?
well link units didn't work out for me in celeb or fashion theme but it worked for me pretty well in other niche like health or business services. And i completely agree with you that we should keep filtering the our adsense a/c like blocking those advertisers who pays pretty less
Yeah, I agree with these. The more the ad units the more the probability to get clicks. But it also lowers clicks per Unit Impressions ratio. But I do see a benefit in more ad units in overall earnings.
I agree on that just trying to fill every pixel of your page with ads definitely not going to help and you get smartpriced and end up making a lot less money even with lot of clicks.
More ads = more low value ads?! I'd rather have 1 or 2 blocks of high value ads than a page rammed with cr@p.
It's because there is more focus/attention on the ones that do appear on your page, instead of seeing tons of ads all over the place as the original article suggested. I always had better success when there were a maximum of 2 ads on my pages.
If you have a high bounce rate (say 80% plus), and 90%+ new visitors daily, is it worth rotating the ad colors or should you just stick with the pallet that gives you the best ctr?
Its still recommended to change ad colours using the trick i posted in #1 post. It keeps giving a fresh look to atleast those 10% returning guys.
Mostly agree but only the third After find out the best ads placement, shall only change it once the CTR continue drop for 7 days or 20% drop compare to previous month. This will be better.
That's right. When I find a perfect POS's I never change it unless I see some weird drop - But never happen to me before.
Just keep testing. On some of my sites I make more money by having a single block on the site, while on others I make more by having 2 blocks and a link unit. I tried different things, testing colours, sizes etc so I'd recommend doing the same for your sites. I was lucky that I had plenty of traffic to get statistically relevant results in a single day but make sure you leave things for at least a few thousand impressions, preferably 10k or more.
