Hi all, I'm developing a site that will be content driven with some paid content, but I also want to attract as much adsense clickthrough revenue as possible. If it makes a difference the site will be targeting the general public. The design is pretty much clean sheet at the moment so anything is possible. I'm hoping DP members will share what they believe are the best ad formats and where/how to place them - links to good examples would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Thx DXL I've got the layout set up around a 160px vertical grid atm, which allows me to insert the wider ad formats without breaking the layout - but which is better, graphic or text ads? Also, I was hoping ppl here would be able to confirm which positions work best as that page shows all the places you could put an ad rather than which work the best?
You really need to get a rough design of your site up on the web so that you can post the URL and get advice from there
Well I'm hoping to get a few pointers as to the best layout since I can mould it to suit atm - any tips as to the best performing ad formats?
Use this as your guide, design a layout and then everyone can help you tweak it. If you have lots of articles, consider using one or two medium/large rectangles.
Thx Tyler, I've read that Google tips page a few times now and it has helped me, but it doesn't really say which ad formats work best besides wide ones. I'll definately post the url once the site is beta launched in about a month or so (big project) but any suggestions as to what formats and where would be much appreciated. Or conversly, any ad formats to stay away from that don't work...? Also, if you've hit a great content to ad balance, making good revenue and are willing to share the url, pls do.
I think I have the thread for you: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=104540 Let me know if that helps any...
Yes Tyler, that helped It's given me some pointers as to where I should be placing ads. I notice nobody is using the square graphic ad in their sites - is this because it's 1 ad vs the text block which gives more ads?
