Hi i planned to buy a small dedicated server . My doubt is I am going to buy the server in AMerica..But now i am in India.

May i access my servers from My own pc in India?

What hardwares & softwares should i buy in my place to access the servers in America?

What softwares should i use to edit my scripts in servers, upload contents etc?

You can access your web server via Internet from any PC. Of course you will need and FTP client and some other tools that would put you in control over your server. But are you sure you need a dedicated server... or you just need web hosting account?

Buy a fully managed server, since your knowledge about running server seems very little..

you should buy with a control panel, cpanel/whm is the most popular.

Ftp program to upload and download files from server.

Putty should be used to access server and edit file on server.

Okay here is the best option for you.

Since you dont know almost anything about linux this would be hard for you. If you planning to use stable and must supported version I suggest you use Centos 5 32 bit. There is some issue about 64 bit where certain software didnt fully support it yet. You need ffmpeg installed along with flvtools and so on. You dont need to use cPanel as there is another alternative for this which you can use it for free with 40 domain limit. Since you are not using this as hosting server so you might need something like LxAdmin

Here is the demo of LxAdmin http://lxlinuxdemo.lxlabs.com:7778/login/

If you still thinking to either get a managed or unmanaged I suggest you juz go for managed hosting. This would be easy for you.

    as far as i know..

managed = ready to go server for you to use, and you will get full support from the company you rent the server, i.e when you need to install something but you couldn't do it you can ask the support to install it for you, BUT managed service is different from one company to another.. i.e a company will monitor your server but another one not..

unmanaged = you'll only get the server, you have to do everything on your own, support only help for hardware and network issue.. BUT usually they will point you to the right direction for your issue..

another option is rent unmanaged server and find a company and or sysadmin to manage it for you..

and you could google it.. managed vs unmanaged..

    hope it help..
