adbrite and bidvertiser have lower paid per click cost i guess. i'm using adbrite as an advertiser, but not publisher. I gave it a try but only making a few cents with it.

Kontera has worked well on my site.. MSN is Beta testing their PubCenter publisher network which is looking very good - they are taking applications.

Not an alternative, but as complementary revenue sources, CPM networks and affiliates are good. Good not to have it all in one basket.

Adbrite and bidvertiser are close competitor to adsense.

nothing beats AdSense but if you want an alternative, i find using AdBrite on sites with high traffic but low ctr the most financially rewarding, especially with the full page ads feature. However some feel the full page ads option can be considered a little too intrusive and put potential visitors off.

You could try PubCenter if you can get it, or wait for it to go global, that and ypn look like they might give Google a run for their money!
