Thanks for this post... though I already given up social bookmarking, they seem to be not delivering traffic like they use to be.

Social bookmarking is one of the best way to generate traffic.
You should only be careful to what you are submitting.
They might think that what you have post is just a spam.
But SB really works for me.

By the way sitetalkzone, thanks it was really appreciated. :)

I'd say the highest PR sites of that list are definitely worth pursuing. I feel ...IF YOU HAVE THE TIME AND ENERGY... bookmark here, there and everywhere. MOST of your efforts will NOT pay off, but watch your site stats and you'll soon find the few that might send focused traffic your way.

Agreed. The list of bookmarking sites THAT MATTER can be winnowed down to the top 10 or so Big Names. It seems Goog/Yhoo/MSN clearly know who the big players are and have devalued the rest.

After probably posting to 100+ PLIGG based sites over the course of 3 months, I'd say 3/4ths of them aren't even functional anymore! Other than Dropjack.com (PR 5) I'm hard pressed to see the value of the time I spent on any Pligg site.

I haven't had much success with bookmarking sites of late, figuring that they don't provide the traffic and that the links pointing to my sites aren't of much value to Google.

Instead, I've ramped up forum and blog commenting which seems to offer better results.

I write quality posts or related comments and fill in the URL space to point to a page on my site. Days later, I check my backlinks and usually find those links added, but remember your comments must be relevant or the blog manager will not approve them.

Every one of my blogs is "do follow" but I toss unrelated comments and I don't like when people use their business name instead of their real name. Somehow, I doubt anyone in this world has the name Payday Loans, but then I might be wrong!

    ;)

I also have failed to have much success with bookmarking sites. I feel like the 30 minutes I spend on them can be spent elsewhere with greater results.
