Namecheap Private Nameserver Setup

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Jboo, Dec 15, 2008.

Hi, I understand where to setup private nameservers in my namecheap account, but I'm confused about the IP address part. Do I enter the IP address of the server my website is on? If so, what about for the second nameserver setting which requires a seperate IP address?

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply. I'll send them an email. I have the 2 nameservers from my hosting provider that I would normally use as DNS nameservers at Namecheap, but wasn't sure whether they are the same as when setting up orivate nameservers. They aren't in the format 111.222.333.444, but rather like this:

    sns44.websitewelcome.com
    sns45.websitewelcome.com

    Might it be those?

    Thanks again.

probably too late but yes if those are the dns servers provided by your isp then it should work. They usually do give you the IP address of their dns servers but it should be fine to use their fqdn.
