GoDaddy charged me for no reason!!..help needed

Hello there, I have been using GoDaddy for .info domains only, and occasionally for buying domains from other GoDaddy sellers. Today I was charged $4.99 for something they called "Domain Pro". WTF?? I never use them for anything else but .info names. Why have they charged me? Moreover, how did they get the access to my PayPal account? I know the amount is not big, but what is worrying me is, I have good cash in my PayPal account, and have not withdrawn it due to Indian bank problems with PayPal that have not yet been resolved in my region.

They say I have signed some billing agreement with them, which I remember very accurately that I have not signed any agreement with them apart from clicking "yes" to their terms and conditions, when I first joined them.

Should I open a dispute in PayPal for "unauthorized access"? I was about to open one, but PayPal has written that in case the transaction is found to be authorized, my account can be suspended. I feel trapped both ways. GoDaddy is a big company, they can generate any agreement as they have all my account info with them (My name, home address etc.).

Please help, what should I do? I am not worried about the money that has gone but about the agreement in PayPal account that shows "maximum withdrawal limit $500" by GoDaddy Inc.. I am worried that GoDaddy can screw me of $500 if I do not take any action. :(

I repeat, I have not purchased anything from them since April 2008.

Yea I notice that godaddy does that payment agreement stuff when I buy domains there too. I do not like that very much either.. but have never had a problem with it.

Although I do not know or have not ever seen what "Domain Pro" might mean. This is what I do, go in to paypal account and to payment agreements section, and edit the amount of the agreement, I always change mine from the $500 to like $10 per month max for that aggrement.

That setting is kind of hard to find but it is in there.

Strange..really strange...but when you join godaddy you "sign" that agreement.
So the best thing to do is to change the allowed ammount.

    Do you mean DomainAlert Pro?
    https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/domain_alert/landing.asp

GoDaddy's checkout is confusing and throws many options to buy additional services in your face. It's easy to buy something you didn't intend to. I am surprised though that GoDaddy won't reverse it when asked.

Don't file a PayPal dispute - if you do you could find that GoDaddy blocks access to all your domains.

Godaddy won't withdraw any money if you don't owe it to them. I wouldn't really worry about them "scamming" you or draining your paypal. They are a well known and respected company.

You should have read the fine print better, I don't know what else to say. It sucks, but it happens.

I once got charged for a certificate they give out for free with dedicated servers and automaticly renew after a year. I wrote to them I don't need it and they refunded.

You can do the same and also cancel the permission you gave to godaddy to go into your paypal account

Write them an email and they will sort it out, don't worry

GoDaddy checkout can be hard to use, you might have checked something. Just email them and it should be sorted.

That's why when the 1st screen that comes up with all the upsells, I just click on the "No Thanks" box & go straight to checkout :D

Thanks for your support guys! I have submitted a support ticket to GoDaddy regarding that. They have canceled my "Membership w/ DomainAlert. Pro Monitoring", about which I do not even have the slightest of idea how it came along with my domain purchase. Anyway, I have not contacted PayPal regarding this because I do not want to be a scapegoat again.

Yes, I guess the fault is mine. I considered GoDaddy like NameCheap-too user friendly, and may be (however, I am sure I didn't) I signed up with something that was not required (by forgetting to "uncheck" that something).

I have lost my 5 bucks to GoDaddy..Not feeling any pain, but a bit disappointed. I am moving all my domains from them to NameCheap now. Their support has canceled my so called "membership" with DomainAlert Pro without refunding me anything.

    Bye-bye-GoDaddy!

Thanks once again for your kind words!
