I just recently added Google analytics to this site bout a week ago. So I don't know if its had enough time. My bounce rate is through the ceiling..round 72%. I got to do something bout this...maybe some bikini fishing girls would do the trick lol. Would anyone care to give me some review pointers on what I should be doing better or different with this site? Hunting & Fishing Gear Tips Thanks,
Nice site and cool collection of images, I like it.. But the tables used as border in your site are not completed properly, check it out..
While it is a nice looking site, there is no real reason why anyone would stay on the site. The articles are not very long and they are buried beneath a bunch of Google ads. I think the best thing to do is beef up your articles. Write at least 750 words for each of your topics. If your articles are too short people will not think there isn’t anything of value to read. The last thing people want to do is waste their time. I think the layout is good and the form is good. I would not change that. Also, you need to give your site some time. As far as Goggle Analytics, try to get to know as much as you can about it and not focus on the one number (i.e. your bounce rate). Try to look at others statistics within Google Analytics. I sum, do not change the layout or “try†so hard to attract attention. It will come. Just make the content mope significant.
Love the design! Honestly I don't have any solid pointers other than what the others above suggested. Depending on how the visitors are coming to your site you may need to target them an bit better. Also I'd remove the 300/250 G! banner from your home page. The way it is now it really doesn't scream out professional. Other than that great work, makes me want to develop my hunting domains
The very first thing that I noticed is that the domain name is WAY too long. People are going to find it difficult to remember the name in order to return. The meta description is full of trash words, such as "and, you, to, know, about, and". Try to get those words out and use as many keywords as possible. But, try to keep the meta description between 12 - 15 words at the most. If you can not think of 12 keywords, its ok to use 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 keywords instead of the full 12 - 15.
I liked the site. I was most interested in your "bird dog" link. Maybe i missed it, but i would add Labs to the list. I would also put some information on training your dog. I have a Weimy.
Nice and clean website. You could improve it by adding some more text, and maybe some relevant videos. Try and submit it to as much search engines(high page rank) as you can, and wait a little bit, it will grow best of luck.
Thanks for the advice everyone, I removed the adsense ad on homepage and reworded my description. I will pay more attention to such in the future. Not sure about the table and border problem? Have to look closer. I am a novice at best, so I'm learning everything the hard way. Again, thanks for the advice.
I like it. When I get ready to go fishing next I will stop by to read up. Seems like you have informative content. I would subtract some of the white space in the right sidebar, possibly assign a different background color to the google ads or break them up? It just does not seem to balance the dark in the left sidebar. I do really like the header and pictures. Hope that helped.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the suggestions. Between working a day job 6 days a week, my son's baseball games and crappie fishing, it's hard to find a spare minute to work on the site. I try to work in an hour or so before work and late night. pmflood1...hire a layout designer...hehe...on my budget? Ouch!...I'll just have to keep the old school look and hope for the best. P.S. My son and I caught some really nice crappie yesterday, wading in 2-3 foot water. Just starting to spawn...not much better to eat than crappie...OK, all my reviewers are invited over for a crappie feast. thanks, burt

Domain name is a little long but site overall looks really good. I'd look into embedding some hunting video where your 2 pictures are, something to keep the visitors attention and hopefully keep em on your page.
Well the domain name is a niche that went south. I actually started this site as a community and business directory site. I had a lot of content about hunting and fishing because my community is home to a premier crappie and bass fishing lake, so I already had an abundance of pages pertaining to hunting and fishing. I probably did wrong by keeping the domain name and going totally with a hunting and fishing niche in lieu of the community site. But the site had already been pretty heavily indexed.....so, I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem.
