Yes instead to give a red rep costs you a rep point to do so.

Interesting I just noticed that Smyrl now has a moderator title. I always thought the mods here preferred anonyminity. My how things are changing here...makes one think.

The Moderator tag for Smyrl is since she became a MOD.

    Nothing new.
And the ability to see who gives rep is not at all a good idea.

This happens all the time here, everyone gets red rep with some stupid comments, you cant really do anything about it.

How would getting rid on anonymity make it better ?? this would lead to an unrequired rep war/bad mouthing etc IMHO.

I think taking out the red rep option and jsut keeping the "I Agree" option would be lots better.

    Nah!!
That would make it difficult to distinguish nice guys from real jerks..
I have never seen any good poster (in real sense) in red for too long.
even some stupids made to come out of red curse (Example: S****d*a :D :D )

Its almost perfect the way it is..

People should have the BALLS to stand behind their red rep.

The fact that the forum doesnt automatically append the users name is ridiculous.

Obviously we can't rely on having the user add their name to the comment being as no user ever does it.

Myself I have very very rarely given someone a red rep and when I do I make sure to put my name in the comments.

How else will the user that I gave the red rep to know why I did it?

Just pointing to a post doesnt always tell the story sometimes you may need to ASK the person that gave you a red rep WHY they did this.

This way you can correct your behavior and hopefully NOT make an enemy.

The fact that people think it would cause a red rep war that seriously is childish.

I wouldnt give someone a red rep JUST BECAUSE they gave me one I'm a little more mature than THAT.

But fuck it we all know nothing will ever change it will remain the way it is.

    That being said.

If the user giving the red rep loses one point for giving someone a red but they are a senior user and take 10 off of that user they give the red to shouldnt they lose ten and not one.

    Again nothing will ever change.

    So be it.

    "vive la difference"

There are busy webmaster forums that offer this, and others that don't. I guess you just need to find one which has enough of what you do want that the rest won't matter.

A red every now and again doesn't make much difference.

Good that you have balls to stand behind your red reps Dan :), and whoever else have *Balls* should sign their red reps too.
However you are not the whole forum, and whole forum is not you, I am sure you wont go and get anyone who red reps you, but I cant say the same for the people, who start a thread everytime they get an infraction or Red Rep.

IMHO, People should have *Balls* to Stand Against the red reps given to them. every one who whines about red rep/infraction is more childish.
huh?? what will be the point of repping system then??
you have done some nasty things, you deserve to be red repped, I am a good man, but if I chose to Red rep you, it would hit me equally?? What a justice.....

By the way, you cant take more than 5 points away with one hit in this forum, no matter how many rep points do you have.

I see no reason why there should be anonymous reputation - it's like posting as a guest in someone's thread in my eyes.

I do indeed like how v7n has their reputation visible to who gave you it. Would be a real plus for Digital Point...
