Usually it is impossible to name a theme out of the thousands that are out there, but in this instance all you needed to do was look at the footer, which is where most information on design and webmaster is and it says clearly: http://www.elegantthemes.com/
I think this theme is a custom made, specially for wordpress theme gallery. It can be made easily if you have good wp skills over design and coding. This theme is just about proper use of custom fields and Wp Loops.
Follow the link dude. It is possible that the webmaster changed a few things , but it says that it is from there.
I followed the links and none of the themes there looks like the one I mentioned. I believe it is customised.
That is possible. I always do some customizations on themes that I use so I can have something original, or to accommodate different options.
He is using this theme http://www.elegantthemes.com/preview/Simplism (its not free) and he also do bit customization.
