Hi,
i was thinking about getting a vps plan but i have no idea what the specifications should be so can someone guide me here?
how many domains at max can be hosted on 1 vps?
whats the min ram you would recommend?(assume very little traffic as i havent made the proxies yet,but ill be having around 7)
also my budget is really low as i am new to the proxy business and wouldnt want to venture too much.
Can you recommend a host?
any help is appreciated,

No, not if it's less than 50mb atleast. Most warez files are either in 50/100/200 mb split rar files so it won't make a difference upto 10mb.

 

You really want as much ram as you can get. The least I'd go with is 512mb.

Do you really think that it's possible to sell such a "site" ?

 

Yeah I suppose I'd more be selling the domain. Which I think is a really good one for a glype proxy template site... It is also PR3 and the two templates have many many downloads on them and the site has been up for over a year.

 

wow,i guess ill just have to use shared hosting,anyone know of some cheap shared hosting where i can host atleast 4 proxies and it needs to be cheap

I wanted to know what proxy script you think is the best. I ask this as I am using glype on all my sites except 2. These 2 sites are running zelune and are doing really good. If you have used all scripts, please could you advise

glype is the best one i have seen so far as its the only one which is consistently being devoloped and updated as well as it supports maximum number of sites.
The only drawback with glype is its resource consuming

 

Bandwidth: 405 Mb ( today ) .. Is it normal ?

 

One of my proxy's used 14 GB of bandwidth today..

For applying to Adversal, do you recommend applying with a popular proxy? or a real content site?

 

Well if it is a LOT more than you normally get, I'd guess there is something fishy going on.

Real content, definitely.

 

CGIProxy is also excellent and is still being actively developed (although there is no forum like with Glype) but you need to be both brave and committed to run CGIProxy as it can be quite demanding on resources...

Glype is a great drop in script for most web servers but still has it's own issues, most notably that if you do server side javascript parsing then it is probably just as demanding as CGIProxy.

Both scripts often have small unidentified or seemingly insignificant issues that can make or break some sites. Browsing MySpace with Glype has some glaring visible issues, Facebook generally works well with both but Orkut is a bust on CGIProxy.

The key is to know your visitors, what they want and where they browse and make a decision from there based on your potential audience and your level of technical expertise.
