Google treats .info .com differently?

Dude it's best not to talk if you have no idea what you are talking about. I have .info sites with very good rankings and search traffic. Quit spreading misinformation if you have not tested things yourself! Just because your read it somewhere on the net doesn't meant there is truth to it.

 

I have been using a domain name : computerkid.info for past one year. It didn't go well. I bought it for very low price.
Recently I took some feedback from users. the fedback was :
" .info is associated with some hacking sites."

public is of opinion that a website is best associated with .com . I'm not talking abt techies. Im talking abt common man.

And see.. these .info domains are very cheaper initially less than 2 dollars/

 

It is not how google will treat you that you must care about too much as you should worry about how visitors will treat ur site as long as u r going to create a great site.

All TLDs are same in the eyes of Google bots, but to an eye, it different. EG .info will have a lesser click thro in the google SERP than a .com if it is not ranked no.1

If u r worried about filters, then worry not since it will Impact all .infos even the non-spammy ones...

I don't think that's the case at all. To the average joe, I think relevance is the critical factor in clicking on a search result. If it's a relevant title with a compelling description they will be inclined to click on the serp. Even moreso with .info if they are looking for information.

 

Rubbish. Prchecker and spain is a good example of a good developed .info extension.
Its just that most people thinks of .com as the default extension and traffic goes to them automatically. Example failblog.org. See the .com Alexa rank.
About the bouncy rate and all I don't believe that is true as there is never any proven facts or statements issued by the "authority"

Just one set back which is .info was once used by many spammers years before which degraded the .info reputation. If all registrars were to sell the .info registration at the same price as .com this issue wouldn't have arise. My 1 dolar thought. Lol..

 

There are 100 of extensions , suppose every body does same kind of seo , same kind of page optimization , do not you think .com will appear at first result ?

 

I totally agree with vinuq.
It might not have a difference in Google if it's .info or .com
but I do notice and I'm more hesitant to go to a .info domain than a .com
domain. Too many crap sites on .info
I read somewhere that a very high percentage of the .info domains are used for spam, phishing etc.
I guess if you want to do some bad stuff with your purchased domain you might as well go for the cheap ones.
Just my 2 cents.

 

maybe someone should carry out an experiment. Purchase a brand new .info and .com domain
like justboughtthisdomain.info and justboughtthisdomain.com do exact same content on both launch them at the same time and link from the same sites.

I wonder which one of them google would penalize for duplicate content....

 

I dont know exactly, but have noticed that .org's rank better than other tld's.

It may be false, but its just my conclusion.

 

google consider all domain as same, but peoples don't like .info domains.

 

I don't think it makes a difference to Google what you choose. But if you want to develop and sell your site in the future, .com domains are more favorable to potential buyers. If you are thinking of opening a network, you may benefit from buying .info to save money in the short term. In the long term, the prices for renewal are the same for both .com and .info

Using the plural version of the keyword would probably serve you even better.

But you know, using plain keywords separated by a hyphen is an awfully lousy way to brand your site, in most cases. Try to think of a snazzy domain name that sounds great and looks great.

I personally HATE .info as they are the "poor mans" domain $1.99 (just my take on it)

which is why i wont buy half the garbage sites webmasters create at sitepoint or
other places as i have to then buy another domain and transfer content.

But to answer your question.... No it dont make a bit of difference

Dont think it matter that much in terms of results rankings...however...if you have a sight your trying to brand then a com is far better. If someone is trying to get to a specific site then they will type com rather than any other extension pretty much 100% of the time. A lot of people will also just type the site name without extension (for instance typing ebay rather than ebay.com) and this of course goes straight to com...

 

all are same.... i heard someone say .gov is premium domain.
But i don't think there is something like this.........
